Hermanos Gandon, Spain – Marine fuel treatment

Armadora Hermanos Gandon operates a fleet of five deep freezer vessels. They all fish in the North Atlantic, fishing mainly for species such as oceanic redfish, Greenland halibut, blue whiting, grenadier, talisman, and shrimp.

Currently, the fishing fleet consists of 4 freezer vessels:

  • Ana Gandón (58 m – 963 GT – 2001).
  • Aldán (54 m – 606 GT – 1989).
  • Esperanza Menduíña (77 m – 1866 GT – 1988).
  • Gandón Cuatro Brothers (63 m – 1210 GT – 1988).

After an initial positive test with the Ana Gandón, a trawler of 58 m length and 10 m beam, the Hermanos Gandón Company decided to extend the use of the XBEE marine fuel treatment to the other units of the fleet.

The company has achieved a clean diesel particulate filter and all the components of the fuel system.

With the use of the XBEE enzyme, Gandón Brothers has three reduction targets:

  • Maintenance costs.
  • Fuel consumption.
  • Emissions of soot and polluting gases to respect the environment and comply with standards.

The filters were the first sign, normally they are cleaned many times to remove debris. Since we started using XBEE, are cleaned less frequently because are much cleaner. After more time applying it, the tanks had much less solid residue than at other times without XBEE.
