Eliminating combustion problems with XBEE enzymes

April 2003. Wärtsilä France decided to evaluate the curative properties of XBEE Enzyme Fuel Technology. The ship Pierre Loti had combustion problems in its starboard engine.

Two endoscopic studies were performed to establish the precise consequences that the treatment could have on the problematic motor. On June 26, 2002, a first consultation was performed to ascertain the condition of the motor before treatment.

The second consultation took place on March 18, 2003, as the motor had not undergone any intervention during treatment. In only eight and a half months, XBEE was able to solve Pierre Loti’s problems by thoroughly cleaning the engine during normal use.

We have completed the test of your product “XBEE” on the passenger ship “Pierre Loti” at the end of March. […] Both propulsion engines _ type A12150 SRHI _ N° 15790 and 15791 ran very satisfactorily for one year _ about 3,500 hours _ with this additive in the fuel.

We recall that we chose this way of treating the fuel in order to eliminate the significant carbon deposits due to operation at low loads with numerous speed variations. The consequence of this operation is that the engines stall after a prolonged shutdown.

[…] we performed an endoscopic examination of the cylinders and exhaust manifolds. It turned out that we were very pleasantly surprised by the total absence of carbon materials […].

The perfect cleanliness of these parts allows us to conclude that, the fuel additive had a really effective effect in improving the performance of both engines by eliminating all carbon materials.

Therefore, we think that the use of the fuel additive will improve the mechanical behavior and the lifetime of the parts.
